Portraits of the Artist as a Man at the Loom, 2019

Series of 5 pieces hand-woven on a digital Jacquard loom, each pinned to a different jacket, hung on a freestanding steel rack. Worsted wool. Various dimensions.

Images of weavers working at the loom, drawn from sources as diverse as Egyptian petroglyphs, medieval woodcuts or ethnographic illustrations, are combined with words written in block capital letters. Sentences and interjections refer to daily chores, accidents, fantasies or thoughts that crossed my mind while practicing and learning, intertwining artistic labour and everyday life.
