Still Life in Venice, 2012

Twenty-four photographs of objects recovered while walking. Print on dbond, 36 x 48 each.

During a residency in Venice to realize a commissioned portait of the city in twenty-four pictures, an extraordinary ‘acqua alta’ submerged parts of the city. I started to walk, tracing the city’s blurring perimeter while collecting objects that, previously claimed by the water, had now reappeared on land. I’ve sorted them out and arranged them in still-lifes compositions. On the last day of my stay, I’ve properly disposed of them.
